A light single engine aircraft has made an emergency landing at Mona Vale Golf course this afternoon, 17 August.
There appears to be no major injuries.
Cal Nicholls, who is at the scene, reports no major injuries but says the pilot, who is in training, has face lacerations. He says he and his partner, a doctor, provided first aid until paramedics arrived.
Paramedics confirm they have treated two men in their 50s after a forced landing and that they have both been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for Assessment.
Royal North Shore Hospital confirmed both men are in a stable condition.
Police say the matter is now with Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB).
The ATSB confirmed the plane is a Piper Cherokee being flown by a flight instructor and student. There was reported engine trouble, which is yet to be verified.
Witnesses at Mona Vale Golf Club
Callum Nicholls, a Member of the club, said: “The plane came in really low over the top of our heads, and there was no propeller movement.
“It didn’t even sound like an engine was on.
“He banked around the corner here to obviously try and come down the 15th, but lost altitude coming down, skidded across and just ended up there.
“We were sort of first on the scene. My girlfriend’s a doctor, and gave them medical attention. They were both okay. One had slight lacerations to the side of his face.
“We were a bit shocked, but we were kind of stoked we couldn’t finish our round because we weren’t playing great.”
Jason, who captured the crash on his phone, said: “It was losing altitude quite quickly. Something was not right. The sound was a bit jarring, but you could see it was a pretty gentle, textbook kind of landing.
“All props to the pilot. He managed to bring it down safely.
“It is super lucky. Very grateful that there was nobody injured.”
