Northern Beaches Police report seeing an increase in property being stolen from unlocked motor vehicles. They say opportunistic thieves will walk along the street, checking to see whether parked vehicles are locked. Once they find one unlocked, they will rummage through the vehicle and steal any property deemed of value. They urge everyone to lock and secure their vehicles to prevent this from occurring.
But, it’s not always what’s on the inside that counts… Police say there is a rise in number plate thefts from vehicles, also.
Offenders are targeting a wide range of vehicles, including cars, caravans and boat trailers. Anyone who may have information regarding these type of incidents are encouraged by police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website at www.crimestoppers.com.au (you can report anonymously).
