Double death in Forestville to face inquest as identity revealed

The identity of two dead bodies discovered at a granny flat in Cannons Parade in Forestville earlier can now be revealed: they are Vanessa and Andrew Woods.

Police confirmed the discovery of the pair on 11 June 2025; they had lived at the property for about 12 months and largely kept to themselves.

Northern Beaches Area Command Detective Superintendent John Duncan said at the scene in June that both bodies had lacerations and the deaths were being treated as suspicious.

The couple’s pets, two dogs and a cat, were inside safe and have been relocated.

Follow up enquiries from Manly Observer in August revealed murder suicide remained the leading line of inquiry, but Police say the investigation remains open.

The Coroner’s Office confirmed an inquest into the death of both Vanessa Woods and Andrew Woods remained open, but that it was in the very early stages of investigation and likely many months before a hearing date will be set down. We will provide an update once one is available.
