Determined

7 – 14 Wilga Street, 1 – 9 Wilson Avenue & 212 – 222 Powederworks Road, Ingleside – PEX2025/0001

Determination: Refused

Date determined: 17 February 2025

Determination Level: Northern Beaches Local Planning Panel/Council

Cost of Work: $8,590,453

Northern Beaches Council unanimously refused the planning proposal to rezone the site from RU2 Rural Landscape to R3 Medium Density Residential in a bid for developers, Mirvac Homes (NSW) Pty Ltd (Mirvac) and Ingleside Wilga Developments Pty Ltd (Truslan), to construct 536 homes including terrace houses and six-storey apartment buildings. Northern Beaches Local Planning Panel recommended the refusal after assessing the planning proposal.

The primary concern against the proposed development centred around the risk of bushfire and the lack of road infrastructure to allow residents of the new development and surrounding properties to safely and efficiently evacuate should a bushfire happen.

Manly Observer reported on this in further detail, which you can read here.

(L-R) LeeAnne Nuss, Robert Nuss, Verity Hinwood and Dick Clarke – lcoal residents objected to the development.

The developers can either request a review from the State government, which can overturn the decision, or they can address the concerns raised by Council and NBLPP and redesign their proposal.
