Two male youths have been taken to Dee Why Police Station after an alleged shoplifting incident at BWS escalated into a struggle on Pitt Road, North Curl Curl (near Griffin Road), on Saturday afternoon (today 22 August).
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly before 4pm following reports of a robbery and a suspected stabbing. Members of the public restrained two youths at the location before officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command arrived. Police were told a further two youths had left the scene.

Police have confirmed there was no stabbing. A bottle of red wine was, however, broken during the citizen’s arrest. The female store attendant was not injured.
Photos taken at the scene show what appears to be an imitation firearm on the ground nearby, though police have not commented on this item and it has not been confirmed as connected to the incident.
A bystander at the scene said one of the youths could be heard asking police not to tell his mother what had happened as he was placed into the police vehicle.
At the time of publishing no charges had been laid and two of the teens involved remained unidentified.
More to come.
