Transport for NSW will upgrade lighting and ventilation in the existing pedestrian underpass within the public area of the mixed-use space in Manly.
What work are we doing?
We will be carrying out lighting and ventilation work to improve safety, functionality, visibility and overall experience for people using the open public area.
Our work includes:
- installing seven new light poles along the waterfront
- replacing existing lights with new energy efficient lighting
- upgrading ventilation in the underpass
- installing new aluminium louvred doors on the ventilation enclosure
- completing electrical connection work to support these upgrades.
When and where we’ll be working
Work is expected to take up to nine weeks from late July to late September, weather and conditions permitting. Work will be staged to minimise impacts.
Working hours are 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm, Saturday.
What will this mean for you?
- For safety reasons, temporary fencing and shade cloth will be installed around the work area.
- The fencing will be adjusted as work progresses and removed in stages once work is complete.
- Access to the pedestrian ramp, public open space and the Espy will be maintained at all times.
- Temporary closures will be in place around the work area while the new lighting is installed.
- An elevated work platform may be used for short periods to help install some of the new lighting.
Managing our impacts
Our work will be carried out in stages to avoid impacts to the community and surrounding business and reduce safety risks to our workers and pedestrians.
This includes:
- fencing for safety and security.
- reducing our noise as much as possible.
- turning off equipment when not in us.
