Teen airlifted after Dee Why e-bike crash

A teenager has been airlifted to hospital after he was hit by a ute in Dee Why this evening. The rider was reportedly travelling through a red light on a high powered e-bike or dirt bike with a passenger at the time.

The passenger is the more severely injured of the two.

The vehicle collided with the bike on Pittwater Road, near the 7-Eleven near Lismore Avenue, prompting a rescue helicopter to land at Dee Why Oval. We are told a second young rider also has minor injuries.

The age of the riders and the circumstances around the crash are yet to be officially confirmed.

The road was closed for several hours in the southbound direction while crash investigations were carried out.

An official police statement is expected shortly.

The NSW Ambulance Toll Helicopter arrives on Dee Why Oval.

We understand the young person was flown to Sydney Children’s Hospital at Randwick.
