Dee Why New Year’s Eve fireworks cancelled

UPDATE 8PM 31 December 2021: The Dee Why fireworks have been cancelled last minute due to excess swell. The barge can not operate. Other planned fire works on the Beaches are going ahead.

Manly and Dee Why New Year’s Eve fireworks displays will both go ahead as planned, Northern Beaches Council confirmed this morning.

Newly re-elected Mayor Michael Regan said the events have been given the green light but warned it was always worth keeping an eye on the Council’s website for any updates and to see all the details including maps of locations and road closures.

“We are really pleased our New Year’s Eve events are going ahead and that our community can enjoy them right across the Northern Beaches,” he said in a prepared statement.

“The fireworks are scheduled to go off with a bang at Dee Why, Manly and Frenchs Forest at 9pm, while Bayview has fireworks planned for 9pm and midnight.”

“All our locations are in large open spaces with various vantage points including the new Frenchs Forest location so that people from across the area can be more dispersed whilst still having the chance to celebrate.”

“We have all become pretty used to being adaptable so I encourage everyone to stay tuned for updates. The Northern Beaches Council New Year’s Eve events are being held in accordance with the NSW Health Orders and recommendations including staying home if unwell and socially distancing.”

Below is all the available information for events as at 8am 30 December 2021. Please check the Council’s website directly for any further updates.
