Why: Queen B is a Brookvale-based candle and beeswax wraps biz that’s been going for 20 years. They have a store here at their hive where they make everything they sell and provide tastings of more than 15 varieties of Australian honey. They also stock Spencer Cocoa chocolate from Mudgee and a range of other Australian-made wares and books. Worth a pop in as they have plenty of parking, a fantastic garden and a treasure trove of finds.

Why: Little Fred – this is the board I’m keen to learn on in 2022. The Wombat crew tell me it’s balancing safety and performance design makes it perfect for any age and skill level. Which is good, as I have plenty of the former and none of the latter.  All Wombat Softboards are wrapped in a highly-durable soft deck and semi-soft slick allowing a safe ride. As a person prone to falling, a soft landing has major appeal!

Moochies watch

What: Moochies Connect and Odyssey watch – a kids’ watch like a phone with parental controls
Who: Moochies
Why: Moochies’ watches are designed to help kids aged between four and 12-years-old develop their independence, while giving parents peace of mind their children are safe and always contactable. The watches allow kids to make phone and video calls and send text messages, while parents can keep an eye on their children’s whereabouts through GPS tracking on the free Moochies App. Parents can also set a geofence, alerting them when their children leave a pre-set area.
