1pm Tuesday: The NSW SES is advising people in coastal areas, including specifically the Northern Beaches beachfront up to Collaroy, to stay indoors due to destructive winds.
They advise a formal Watch and Act is in place for Coastal Areas between Bulli and Collaroy and that you should monitor the situation as it is constantly changing here.
What are we expecting?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises a vigorous complex low-pressure system is forecast to rapidly deepen offshore of the Hunter Coast today, gradually tracking southwards offshore of the Illawarra Coast into the evening before turning and moving into the Tasman Sea during the day on Wednesday.

“Winds are expected to strengthen about coastal parts today. Locally destructive wind gusts with peak gusts in excess of 125 km/h are possible this afternoon along the exposed coastal fringe of the Sydney Metropolitan area, between about Collaroy and Wollongong.”
This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.
