Bikes and scooters are now officially banned from the beachside walkway behind the dunes at Curl Curl, with signs installed last week stating as much.
The path is part of the popular Coastal Walk and was originally built for pedestrians, including families with prams, young children and dog walkers.
As the area has become busier, Council says it has seen increasing community concern about pedestrian safety, particularly in relation to bikes and scooters.
In response, signage has gone up along the walkway to clearly state that it is for pedestrians only. The new signs also warn that penalties may apply for anyone caught breaking the rules.

Council highlights there are still multiple options available for those choosing to cycle. A dedicated bicycle lane runs along Carrington Parade next to the beach, and the adjacent footpath can be used by children under 16, as well as supervising adults.
While some cyclists may be disappointed by the restriction (our editor included), most locals who spoke with Manly Observer said they supported the change when we popped down for a vox pop.
Several residents said the path felt safer and more relaxed without bikes or scooters weaving through.

One local, John Foot, said: “The sooner the council bans all pushbikes, e-bikes or e-scooters off all walkways, the happier I will be.”
Council said it is commited to outdoor recreation and encourages active modes of transport, but says the “balance must be maintained to ensure spaces are safe and accessible for everyone.”
