Northern Beaches Council, in partnership with Sydney Water, Ausgrid and the Public Works Advisory (PWA), is actively responding to a landslip incident which occurred on Sunday, 7 December 2025, near 139 McCarrs Creek Road, Church Point.
Council and the other agencies have been working to ensure public safety and to provide access for residents, public transport and road users, with immediate measures taken to manage traffic and coordinate emergency works.

Emergency works by Ausgrid necessitated a full closure of the road on Tuesday, 9 December, to relocate and guarantee power supply for affected properties. The road has been reopened with single-lane restrictions expected to continue while temporary stabilisation works and investigations are conducted.
“Our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our residents,” Mayor Sue Heins said.
“Council, together with our partners, is working diligently to understand the cause of this landslip and to restore access as quickly and safely as possible.”

Council along with the other agencies will provide regular updates including the road status via the Council’s website and Live Traffic.
“We appreciate the patience of the community during these essential works and are committed to keeping everyone informed every step of the way,” Mayor Heins added.
