Man pleads guilty to assault after strange public interaction with child

A man arrested in Collaroy after leading away a 12-year-old boy and striking his father has pleaded guilty to three assault charges.

Kitchie Knoss appeared in Manly Court via video link from prison this week, 10 December 2025, following the incident which occurred on Pittwater Road in Collaroy in October.

Knoss also goes by the name Kitione Nasalo.

Court documents reveal Knoss was casually greeted by the child and his father around 8 pm while walking on the street, before he followed them while on their way to Mr Gelato. The 44-year-old then approached the boy, placing his hand on his shoulder and gesturing to the father who was inside the store ordering, “Is that guy a pedophile?”

The boy revealed it was his father before the offender asked, “Where did he touch you?” while aggressively leading him away from the store. The father noticed and ran over to see what was happening. Knoss proceeded to accuse the man of being a pedophile and struck him in the face, and still holding a beer bottle, threw it at the victim and missed.

The two wrestled on the ground, rolling on the road and bus lane on Pittwater Road, until bystanders helped separate the offender. The father suffered multiple cuts and injuries and a damaged phone.

Police arrived shortly after and identified Knoss getting onto a B1 bus. Upon arrest, he told authorities, “I just snapped,” adamant he was taking the boy away from a pedophile.

He was charged with common assault in relation to the boy and one count of common assault and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm towards the father. Charges for stalking and intimidation, and another for affray, were withdrawn.

Although Knoss’s address is listed in Minto, social media posts suggest he was a frequent visitor in the area via Manly Ferry.

Knoss will reappear in Manly Court on 14 January for sentencing.
