Former sports instructor arrested over indecent assault of local boys

A man has been arrested over the historical indecent assault of two boys alleged to have occurred on the Northern Beaches over eight years.

Sex Crimes Squad detectives confirmed this morning they had charged a man under Strike Force Buxton.

Strike Force Buxton was established in April 2025 to investigate alleged historical indecent assaults that occurred between 1999 and 2007 on the Northern Beaches.

“Following extensive inquiries, strike force detectives travelled to Queensland, where – with the assistance of officers attached to the Gold Coast Child Protection Investigation Unit – they arrested a 50-year-old man at an address in Southport,” police said in a statement.

He was taken to Southport Watch House where he was charged with eight counts of aggravated indecent assault-victim under authority.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 20 October 2025.

Police will allege in court the man indecently assaulted two boys on a number of occasions.
