Previously:The daughter in law of missing man Wagner Fernandes has sent us a video plea to share with the Northern Beaches community as police step up their search via a large-scale multi-agency operation.

Wagner Fernandes, aged 66, was last seen about 5.30pm on Wednesday 3 August on Elanora Road, Elanora Heights. There have been a number of sightings referenced on social media but no luck tracking the man down so far. The search resumed again this morning, 5 August.

Police and family hold serious concerns for Wagner’s welfare due to multiple health conditions and he is visiting Australia from Brazil and does not know the area.

Daughter- in-law Jade Fernandes told Manly Observer they feared Wagner was showing signs of dementia and may be quite confused.  “We are really concerned. We don’t know how much food and water he has had for 24 hours so our family in Brazil are very worried,” he said.

“We would be super grateful if everyone can just check in their garden sheds, under their stairs, side pathways of their homes, fire escapes. Anything you can think of where you might go for shelter.”

A multi-agency search has commenced near Elenora Road today (Thursday 4 August 2022), utilising assistance from Police Rescue, PolAir and NSW SES volunteers.

Mr Fernandes is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, of thin build, with short grey hair. He was possibly wearing a dark blue zip jacket, dark coloured tracksuit pants and blue sneakers.

Wagner is wearing this jacket.

Anyone who may have seen Wagner or with information regarding Wagner’s whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
