About 7.40am this morning (Tuesday 26 July 2022), police attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command attempted to stop a vehicle travelling along Shackel Road, Brookvale; however, the vehicle failed to stop and drove from the scene, police told Manly Observer.

A short time later, the vehicle collided with another vehicle at an intersection of Pittwater Road and Winbourne Road.

Police stated they were not pursuing the vehicle when it crashed.

A man exited the vehicle and attempted to flee the scene. He was stopped by four bystanders before police arrived.

The man – believed to be aged in his 30s – was taken to Manly Police Station where he “is assisting police with inquiries.”

The female driver of the second vehicle was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene and taken to North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
