Surfer dies at Dee Why

A surfer, understood to be aged in his 50s, died on Dee Why Beach in front of The Strand and scores of onlookers this morning.

The man, who is yet to be formally identified, was found unresponsive in surf and pulled out by bystanders.

Unfortunately despite the best efforts of first responders the man died.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
