Northern Beaches Mayoral vote secures Sue

Sue Heins has been re-elected as mayor of the Northern Beaches.

A Your Northern Beaches councillor for the Curl Curl ward, Mayor Heins won the vote against Liberal Cr Bianca Crvelin 9-6.

After a surprise vote to run the ballot for deputy mayor in secret, proposed by Greens councillor Miranda Korzy, Liberal councillor Georgia Ryburn proved victorious.

Because it was a secret ballot, Your Northern Beaches councillors Cr Michael Gencher and Cr Ruth Robins were ineligible to vote as they were attending the meeting online.

Cr Gencher had nominated for deputy mayor, as had Greens’ Cr Kristyn Glanville.

Mayor Heins and Deputy Mayor Ryburn will hold their respective positions until the Local Government Elections in September 2024.
