New Year’s bushfire at Allambie raises suspicions

A bushfire between Allambie and Frenchs Forest in the Manly Dam catchment overnight is being treated as suspicious.

NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) Inspector Ben Shepherd said the call came in at about 1am and Fire and Rescue NSW crew and eight trucks from RFS responded, containing the fire by 7.30am this morning, 1 January 2025.

The fire had been lit along the pipeline trail behind the Warringah Aquatic Centre. It follows a trend of similar fires lit in the area over the last few weeks and is therefore being treated as suspicious.

The blaze burned approximately 2 hectares of bush.
