A new premium retirement living development will be taking shape on the Northern Beaches in the desirable location of Ocean Street, Narrabeen. The first information session on the proposed offering will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday 13 November.
The retirement development, called Indigo by Moran, is by leading developer Retirement by Moran.
While still subject to approvals, Indigo by Moran is planned as a range of stunning two- and three-bedroom apartments, to be home for around 130 residents. It will be built on the 10,000-square-metre site of the Wesley Taylor Village which closed in 2022.

Retirement by Moran say it will be the perfect home for anyone over 60 looking to downsize and live it up in an engaging social community with a consummate array of exclusive amenities including a cinema, heated indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, cellar, library and extensive indoor/outdoor entertaining areas, and all of the benefits of a low-maintenance lifestyle. And, of course, right near the beautiful Narrabeen Beach.
And another very attractive feature is that based on current regulations there will be no stamp duty.
Dr Shane Moran, Chairman of Retirement by Moran, has described the site as “one of the best I’ve ever seen”.

Shane said the built-up wealth of Australian retirees is “creating very, very strong demand for this sort of product.”
And he should know – Dr Moran draws on a 60-year history of his family owning and operating hospitals, aged care and senior living facilities across Australia and into the Asia-Pacific. Shane led his family-owned Moran Health Care Group to become Australia’s largest private hospital and residential aged care provider. Then in 2001 he established Provectus Care to fulfil his vision for the provision of premium aged care to Australia’s ageing population, and Retirement by Moran was established to develop and provide premium retirement living communities in Australia’s most iconic neighbourhoods.

“Our vision is for our residents to enjoy their retirement years in a warm and welcoming environment that inspires active, meaningful and socially engaged lives,” he says.
“With the retirement headwinds that are coming, demand will outstrip supply for many, many years to come.”

More than 30% of people living on the Northern Beaches are aged 60 and over, so there should be no shortage of interest in the Indigo by Moran information session on November 13, from 2pm – 4pm at Narrabeen Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
It’s a chance for all interested parties to share their thoughts on the new development and to give eligible potential residents aged 60+ an opportunity to contribute their own ideas and preferences for their future home.

Sally Taylor, Managing Director of Retirement by Moran, said: “We are extremely proud of our retirement living communities The Rose by Moran in Wahroonga and Sage by Moran in Cronulla, and we are looking forward to adding Indigo by Moran in Narrabeen to these communities.”
The quality of Retirement by Moran’s projects was acknowledged when The Rose by Moran was named ‘Winner – Excellence in Retirement Living‘ at the Urban Development Institute of Australia – NSW Awards for Excellence in 2022.

It will take a few years for Indigo By Moran to be completed, so in the meantime the existing property will be put to very good use – Retirement By Moran has agreed to make the property available to the Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter (NBWS) for crisis care accommodation.

The NBWS team has already made many of the units ready for occupation at what is now called Narrabeen House.
