The bushfire that threatened homes near Manly Dam in Allambie Heights on Sunday, November 30, is now being treated as suspicious, authorities have confirmed.
Rural Fire Service crews contained the blaze the same day it broke out, with the fire burning through 2.2 hectares near the Manly Dam reservoir and Nyrang Road at Allambie.
A Rural Fire Service (RFS) spokesperson confirmed the fire is suspicious but said the investigation is ongoing and they are unable to comment further at this stage. It is expected more information may become available in coming days. We understand there have been a number of deliberately lit fires in the region the last 24 hours.

The fire is now at patrol status, meaning there is no active fire activity but crews are continuing to monitor the area. There is no threat to the public or nearby properties.
An investigation will be conducted by the RFS and potentially NSW Police, though police have indicated the matter is being dealt with under the RFS at this time.
The blaze initially prompted a Watch and Act alert for properties along Southern Cross Way as it moved in an easterly direction, with 13 fire trucks responding to bring it under control.
It’s still listed as “Advice” on the Hazards Near Me app and RFS website but authorities confirmed there is in fact no active fire.
