Man driving with newborn three times alcohol limit, police allege

A man was charged with drink driving with an eight week old baby in his car yesterday afternoon in Curl Curl.

The 38-year-old was charged with high-range drink-driving after allegedly being caught more than three times the legal limit.

About 4.40pm, Thursday 3 February 2022, officers attached to Northern Beaches Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling the Curl Curl area when they stopped a Toyota Landcruiser on Gardere Avenue in South Curly, after observing the driver not wearing his seat belt.

The driver was travelling with an eight-week-old baby and a dog at the time.

The man was arrested and taken to Dee Why Police station where he underwent a secondary breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.197.

He was issued a traffic infringement for driver not wear seatbelt properly adjusted/fastened, a Court Attendance Notice for the offence of high range PCA, and his driver’s licence was suspended.

The Collaroy Plateau man was granted conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court on Wednesday 16 March 2022.

The baby was uninjured.
