Firefighters have worked throughout the night to contain a significant fire in a three-storey mixed-use building at Brookvale.
The fire, above Decked out Gaming in Brookvale, appears to have started at the top floor just after midnight last night. The top floor is listed as the home to the Screen Actors Workshop. Both businesses have been contacted for comment. Firefighters described the main affected area as “commercial space”.
Fire and Rescue NSW was called to reports of flames and smoke issuing from the top building on Winbourne Road, Brookvale, which connects with 722 Pittwater Road.
On arrival, firefighters confirmed a fire involving the upper level of the three-storey complex and immediately commenced an offensive attack using multiple hose lines.
The incident was escalated to a third alarm structure fire with FRNSW responding 15 fire trucks throughout the night to the incident (approximately 55 firefighters) from across Sydney.
Firefighters conducted aerial firefighting operations using ladder trucks and worked within the building, working in challenging conditions to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading throughout the building. Fire crews successfully brought the fire under control after several hours and remain on scene checking for hidden fire extension.
NSW Police and NSW Ambulance assisted at the incident. There have been no reports of injuries. However, extensive damage has been sustained to the upper floor of the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Firefighters remain at the scene this morning, which is slowing traffic in the area.
