Manly’s a hotspot for e-bike theft

E-bikes are a hot commodity, especially on the Northern Beaches, with police reporting several e-bikes stolen over the past week from Manly CBD. This is despite them being secured with locks. Police believe thieves carry tools, such as bolt cutters and portable angle grinders, to steal e-bikes.

Police recommend taking further theft prevention measures, such as removing seats or batteries. They also recommend using trackers. Even though they aren’t necessarily a theft prevention measure, they will help owners and police recover stolen e-bikes.

Although not a prevention measure, a tracker will help owners and police recover stolen e-bikes.

Police investigate mass ring theft at Manly Markets

About 5pm on Saturday 31 May 2025, a lone suspect stole a suitcase containing about 500 rings from a market stall at Sydney Road.

The white hard plastic suitcase was wheeled away from the ‘Bone and Wood’ stall by the suspect and captured on grainy CCTV.

The handmade rings were crafted with various metals including titanium, stainless steel, and copper. Police say it’s possible the rings will be offered for sale online.

The suspect is described as wearing light coloured long pants, a black hoodie, and a backpack. Police are appealing for help to identify the suspect and anyone with information is urged to contact Dee Why Police (9971 3399) or Crime Stoppers (1800 333 000 or here).
