The 68 year old male victim is currently undergoing surgery, Detective Superintendent John Duncan told Manly Observer at a press conference  in Dee Why at 2pm today, 4 February.

Police said they were called to the man’s home on Terrigal Road, Terrey Hills at 10.20pm last night following reports of a break an enter.

Police were told two unknown people entered his home before they demanded a car key and one of them assaulted the man.

Extra resources from Dog Squad and PolAir were called for an assistance.  A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

The Dog Squad located a machete-type knife on Terrigal Road, Terrey Hills, and it was seized to be forensically examined.
