On 10 June 2025, Sydney North Planning Panel approved demolition works and major alterations and additions to Forestway Shopping Centre, including retail uses, swim school, gym, new car park and access, road infrastructure works.
The Panel assessed Council’s proposal for Forestway Shopping Centre to bear the cost (estimated between $8-10 million) of constructing a footbridge over Forest Way, however the Panel determined the imposition of the condition requiring the design and construction of the footbridge would be invalid and should be removed from the consent. The Panel noted any increased traffic will be managed by new traffic management measures and improved road infrastructure, vehicular access and pedestrian access.
