Early voting on the Northern Beaches: Referendum pre-polling and polling day information for Manly and surrounds

Where can you vote in the referendum before voting day?

Prepolling has already begun and will be available for eligible voters for every day except Sunday until the official voting starts on the 14 October.

How do you know if you’re eligible?

Anyone who is unable to make official voting day is eligible to early vote. To cast your ballot early, you need to show up to an early voting location, where they will ask your name, address and simply whether you are unable to vote on polling day, before giving you your ballot. They will not press you for a reason. The AEC includes a list of eligible reasons on it’s website, including travelling, working or live outside the electorate you are enrolled to vote in.

You cast your vote at any polling place within the state you’re enrolled. Those living in a different state to where they are registered will need to visit a designated interstate voting centre.

How can you postal vote?

If you’re unable to make any in-person voting, you must apply for a postal vote through the AEC. Deadlines for applications close at 6pm on Wednesday 11 October

What do you need in order to vote?

All you will be asked for when you turn up is your name, your address that is registered with the AEC and if you have already voted in the referendum. You do not need to provide your license or any photo ID.

How can you check my enrolment details?

To find out what address you have registered with the AEC, you can check on their website. You will need to provide the proper address to election workers on the day in order to receive your ballot. If you have an old details registered, it is acceptable to give them that address to receive your ballot, and you can update your details online before rolls close for the next election.
