Body washes up in Little Manly

Residents of Little Manly saw a dead body float through the heads and toward Manly Peace Park at the end of Addison Road about 3.30pm this afternoon, 6 January 2023.

Emergency responders, including detectives, remain at the scene as the body is retrieved.

It is not known whether this any way relates to reports of a body floating off Long Reef earlier this week which led to an air and land search. Police abandoned the search after determining the body was a buoy.

Manly Observer is aware of kayak debris also washing up at Little Manly today, with residents reporting larger pieces of the boat washing up at the beach yesterday as well.  Again, it is not known whether it is connected to the deceased in any way but we have provided all potentially relevant information to police this evening.

As police are yet to formally identify the person, we will not at this stage provide any further detail about the debris items found or detail of the body other than it appears to be a man.
