Andre de Reuter is officially a shark attack survivor…
27-year-old Andre de Reuter, who was attacked by a shark at North Steyne Beach at manly on 19 January, and rescued by two local surfers and a string of first responders on shore, has been taken off life support and is ‘healing exceptionally’, his family report.
His family confirmed with Manly Observer that Andre has had one leg successfully amputated below the knee.
With the fight for his life won, his family are now turning their attentions to his longer term recovery and support.
His sister Alysha, with whom he sings with as a professional duet, has started an online fundraiser for prosthetics and rehabilitation to support his recovery.
Alysha (pictured above with Andre via their duet social media account last year), has shared:
