A hundred bucks says we’re back in biz: Dine & Discover launches locally today

The state government’s Dine and Discover program was officially launched for the Northern Beaches today, 22 February.

This means that residents on the Northern Beaches are now eligible to visit registered businesses from today and claim their vouchers (four $25 vouchers in total). It’s a good reminder for businesses to register via the Service NSW website.

Relevant ministers Damien Tudehope (Small Business) and Victor Dominello (Customer Service) and local MPs Rob Stokes and James Griffin hosted a press conference in Avalon this morning. Mr Tudehope said Northern Beaches residents over 18 will each have $50 (2 X $25 vouchers) to spend in restaurants, cafes, bars and pubs from Mondays to Thursdays and another $50 for entertainment and recreation including live music and arts venues, to be used any day of week.

The vouchers can only be used at eligible and registered businesses that have implemented a COVID Safety Plan and are registered as COVID safe. You need to apply online for the vouchers with a a MyServiceNSW Account.

*Eds note: The vouchers won’t appear in the app until you have received an email invitation (or similar) from Service NSW asking to apply for the vouchers

Manly Observer understands the vouchers can not be used at any of the local takeaway businesses, such as fish and chip joints along the Corso; it’s an issue the local pollies and business chambers are working on solving behind the scenes.

Happy Days: Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello, Manly MP James Griffin and Small Business Minister Damien Tudehope at the launch of Dine and Discover in Avalon this morning.

James Griffin declared that the Northern Beaches was “back in business” following a financially-crushing Christmas period in lockdown.

“These vouchers will boost our entire economy as local tourism hire companies, galleries, and coffee shops across the area take advantage of the vouchers and bring more customers through the door, while providing households with hip pocket relief.”

Mr Griffin put the call out to all local businesses to jump on to Service NSW and register for the vouchers.

“I would encourage all local business owners and managers to think about how they can take advantage of the deals by offering special packages or partnering between dining and entertainment experiences,” Mr Griffin said.

“The boom in business these vouchers will bring is vital and the more businesses who sign up means the more people who will come and experience all that Manly has to offer.”

Following the testing and pilots, Dine & Discover vouchers will be available to all eligible residents of NSW from March. The vouchers will be valid until 30 June 2021.

Customers will be able to search for participating businesses via the Service NSW app or on the Service NSW website.

Meanwhile, Manly Chamber has this evening issued this promotional video:
