Police warn thieves are targeting trade vehicles for tools in the Brookvale area.
Between 11am on Sunday 15 June 2025 and 7am on Monday 16 June 2025, thieves broke into three commercial vehicles that were parked at Consul Road, Old Pittwater Road and Funda Place in Brookvale.
They stole power tools, including drills and nail guns worth about $15,000. Police believe the tools will probably be sold online and owners are encouraged to keep an eye on the popular online trading platforms.
Manly Observer has also heard from a family in Whaddon Street Dee Why who had not just the tools but the entire Ute stolen.
“We run a small family business and have four young children, it would mean everything to get our car back,” they wrote.
Police encourage owners to record serial numbers of valuables. Alternatively, owners can etch their driver licence number (as these are unique and issued for life) on tools to help police recover them if they are stolen.
Dee Why Police Station has an engraver available for community use.

Australia Post ‘undelivered’ message scam
On 17 June 2025, a Collaroy Plateau woman received a text message advising her a parcel could not be delivered by Australia Post due to an incorrect post code.
The woman clicked on a link and was given instructions to pay fifty cents to redirect her parcel. The woman entered her bank details, and the scammers withdrew nearly $500 from her account.
Police recommend people to exercise caution when receiving links, as clicking a scam link can lead to digital device malware infection, identity theft and financial loss. Police warn residents that scammers are out to trick people into sharing personal information.
