Tony and his team inspired by the power and passion of paint

Tony Isgrove’s passion for paint runs deep – he may well have been born with a brush in his hand and Dulux in his veins! Today he’s proud to have created one of Sydney’s leading painting and decorating business with around 70 full-time staff – many of his team familiar faces around the Northern Beaches.

As if that’s not enough, Tony also paints art as a hobby and regularly attends artist workshops to continually add to his skills and knowledge.

“I am really into abstract art and mostly with acrylics – its fun to create and take yourself to different spaces,” Tony says, adding that two of his favourite artists are Willem de Kooning and Mark Rothko.

But there’s nothing abstract about Tony’s professional career path, built on the power of paint to transform the place and spaces in which we live and add value to any property.

He got his start as a professional painter and decorator in his early teens helping out his father on small jobs, inheriting a solid work ethic and problem-solving abilities along the way. By the time he reached 16, his passion for painting had grown so strong that he left school to work full-time alongside his father, perfecting his skills and building a reputation for meticulous craftsmanship.

Tony and his Dad, who passed on a strong work ethic and a passion for quality painting and service.

At the age of 20, with a clear vision of his future, Tony took a bold step and placed an ad in the North Shore Times to start his own business. His drive to deliver high-quality work, combined with the knowledge he gained working alongside his father, quickly earned many loyal clients.

From those humble beginnings, Tony Isgrove’s Paint and Decorate has steadily grown with help of a team that shares a strong culture of commitment to excellence, transforming homes and strata properties around the suburbs of Sydney. As well as painting, services include colour consultation, wallpapering, housewashing, in-house carpentry, rendering and even feature walls. Tony’s business has also won multiple awards over the years in various categories of painting and decorating, including heritage restorations.

The family connections continue too, with Tony’s sister taking care of HR and customer experience. From all accounts, customer experience is resoundingly positive with home-owners and strata residents. See for yourself with reviews here: https://tinyurl.com/ms7j3pc

Communication is a key factor in Tony’s ‘step-by-step process’ for any project, to ensure client needs are met at all times and that there are no surprises or unresolved issues.

We promise clear communication and transparency from the very start,” Tony says. “And we always check our work thoroughly and happily return to make it right if needed.

“Attention to detail is crucial in painting, down to the smallest drop and splash, as it reflects the overall quality of the job,” Tony says.

“Clean lines, smooth surfaces, and precise application show care and craftsmanship, which can elevate the value of the property and client satisfaction.”

Meticulous attention to detail, inside and out.

This meticulous approach, informed by Tony’s dedication to innovation, new ideas and comprehensive understanding of the many different products available, is backed by a seven-year warranty.

The same attention to detail applies to the way Tony has developed a company culture that promotes happy, committed, knowledgable staff, and rewards excellence and innovation – even winning a ‘Great Place to Work’ award.

With his eye for detail, Tony sees a distinct Northern Beaches style which “features a harmonious mix of bright whites paired with striking dark hues as accent colours. This aesthetic beautifully aligns with the Hamptons/modern coastal Australian style of homes prevalent in the area.”

One of the most memorable local projects was an old eight-storey block of units at 114 North Steyne, Manly.

The units at 114 North Steyne were give a top-to-bottom update.

Team member Chuck Abd recalls: “The most interesting job would be taking on this old block of units and transforming it into a masterpiece. The results were phenomenal and every tradesman who worked on this job felt some painting happiness along the way.

“This job took approximately seven months to complete from start to end – all the owners and committee members were absolutely amazed with the results.”

Finally, what are Tony’s top tips for maintaining painted finishes inside and out?

“Regularly washing the exterior of your property will help preserve the longevity of your paintwork. For interior maintenance, a soft, damp cloth can easily remove light scuffs from walls. Implementing a maintenance plan is crucial for extending the life of your paint without incurring hefty repainting costs. We offer tailored maintenance programs, allowing property owners to enjoy a well-maintained home at an affordable price.”
