A witness has captured the moment three men crashed their vehicle into the back of a car and then a tree near Collaroy Main in the early hours of Sunday morning, 15 June 2025.
“It was early in the morning, at just before five when I was sitting in the cafe across the road at Collaroy near the Surf Club when we heard a massive bang,” the witness told Manly Observer.
“There was a car that had run at the back of a parked car that must have been at speed, because it had ridden off the car in front and then up into a tree.”
Unfortunately for the passengers in the vehicle a police car happened to be passing by at the same time and stopped after the witness waved it down.
Two of the men stayed by the crash site and one other reportedly ran north in front of the Collaroy Surf Club. However, a man was said to be caught soon after, but claimed to be a morning runner.
“More coppers were deployed and caught, I think got him, brought him down, and when they were questioning him – he’s got tattoos all over him – and he’s just like; ‘nah, nah. I run here every morning.’ And I’m a runner. I get down to the beach every morning. I’ve never seen him before,” the witness shared.
While police were searching for the runner and questioning a passenger, video shows the other passenger from the vehicle take an item from a Louis Vuitton purse, place it in his pocket, put his hoodie on and calmly walk away from the crash scene unnoticed.
It is unkown what the occupants of the vehicle were doing or if any arrests were made. Manly Observer inquired to police but were told no more information could be given as the incident is still under investigation.
