Teen charged with Terrey Hills home invasion: Crime Watch Northern Beaches

On 23 April 2025, Strike Force Sweetenham investigators charged a 16-year-old teenager from Blackett for the alleged aggravated break and entering of a house at Terrigal Rd, Terrey Hills at about 10pm on 3 February 2025.

A 16-year-old boy and 12-year-old boy are alleged to have broken into the home, back in February, by opening the screen door and were confronted by the occupant.

The offenders demanded keys to the victim’s car, and a tussle ensued that resulted in the victim being struck by a machete allegedly wielded by the 16-year-old.

Emergency services responded and treated the victim for deep wounds to his hand. The offenders fled and dropped the machete on the road several houses away.

Northern Beaches Police patrolled the area and arrested the two boys about five hours later at a Terrey Hills bus stop. Police charged the 16-year-old with unrelated matters, however police said there was insufficient evidence at the time to lay charges for the break and enter.

Investigators from Strike Force Sweetenham, which was created to investigate aggravated break, enter and steal offences targeting high performance motor vehicles, took over the Terrey Hills home invasion investigation.

Further evidence was obtained and on 23 April 2025, the 16-year-old teen was taken to Mount Druitt Police Station and charged with ‘Special aggravated break and enter with intent to commit a serious indictable offence’.

He was refused bail by police and appeared before Parramatta Children’s Court where he was granted conditional bail to appear again at Parramatta Children’s Court on 3 June 2025.

Manly Observer reported about the break and enter at the time which you can read more about here.

Fake Facebook profile used to trick Manly crypto investor

On 27 March 2025, a man from Manly responded to a Facebook Market Place crypto investment that was spruiked by an offender using a fake profile that was known to the victim.

The victim opened an account with a broker overseas and deposited over $16,000 believing it to be for investment in crypto currency.

He tried to withdraw some of his capital but was required to pay a $3,000 fee.

He made inquiries and confirmed the real person’s Facebook profile was compromised. The victim realised he had been scammed.
