Dee Why teenager Joseph Woodward appeared via video link from prison today, 24 June, charged with the assault of a 47-year-old man at James Meehan Reserve in late May.
Woodward, 18, appeared before Judge Daniel Reiss at Manly Local Court today and entered a not guilty plea to a charge of reckless wounding in company.
The assault, alleged to have occurred between 10 and 10.15pm on 29 May 2026 involving a number of youths, left the victim in an induced coma at Royal North Shore Hospital. He has since stabilised.
The accused did, however, plead guilty to separate and unrelated charges relating to travelling in a stolen vehicle taken from Allambie Heights in March this year, and using a stolen credit card to purchase fast food at about 5am in Warriewood.
All matters were adjourned to Manly Court on 5 August.
