Police investigate attempted stabbing at Brookvale

Police have this morning confirmed they are investigating an attempted stabbing of a man in Brookvale yesterday early evening.

Manly Observer has been told that a woman, possibly in her fifties, used the intercom to claim she had a package to deliver at a home in Shackel Avenue, Brookvale. When the man opened the door the woman allegedly tried to stab him with a kitchen knife.  There appears to be no known motivation behind the attack.

Police have fingerprinted the property for clues and have verified the report.

“About 4.30pm on Sunday (14 April 2024), police were called to Shackel Avenue, Brookvale, following reports of an attempt of stabbing.

On arrival, officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command spoke to a 21-year-old man.

Police were told that a woman – yet to be formally identified – allegedly threatened the man with a kitchen knife at the time of incident.

It is alleged that the woman pressed the intercom and said she had a delivery for him before the man opened the door.

The woman left the scene before police arrived at the scene and the man was not injured.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into this incident has commenced.

Inquiries continue.”

Update Tuesday 16 April: Police have confirmed they have made no arrests in relation to this event and say investigations are continuing. They have not said whether the accused is known to police, but no description has been made public.
