A woman has been treated for superficial burns after a suspected Molotov cocktail was thrown at her Mona Vale home on Sunday night, 3 November.
It’s understood the 45-year-old was seated on her front porch before the hand thrown incendiary weapon made contact with her house, causing the verandah to catch fire.
The woman extinguished the flame with a hose before firefighters from Mona Vale Fire Station, just metres up the road, arrived.
She suffered burns to her face and arms and was treated at the scene by paramedics who took her to Royal North Shore for further treatment. She’s reported to be in a stable condition.
The property was damaged with the plastic material attached to the verandah melted by the flames.
Neighbours in the street told Manly Observer they were unaware of the situation when it was unfolding but are aware that the house has been known to police in the past.
Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command arrived a short time later and established a crime scene. They confirmed an investigation is underway.
Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
There was a second possibly unrelated attack three days after this event, more details are here
