The Local Government Elections (held on Saturday, 14 September) results have been announced and 15 new councillors over five wards have been elected to govern the Northern Beaches for the next four years.
Seven councillors from the previous term (2021 – 2024) remain, including former mayor, Sue Heins who is from Your Northern Beaches Independent Team (YNBIT), with eight new members joining the Council.
The councillors are expected to make their first appearance in chambers on 8 October, with the next full meeting on 15 October where they will vote for the next Northern Beaches mayor. With the Council looking very orange (the colour representing YNBIT), there is a strong likelihood that the next mayor will be a member from that party – and Sue Heins has expressed her intention to put her hand up for the job. Labor and Liberal are noticably missing from the list (with NSW Liberal HQ not getting their paperwork done in time, read about it here).
If you like stats, you can view all the election result details here.
We have grouped the councillors by party and the list is by ward as presented on the electoral website (Curl Curl, Frenchs Forest, Manly, Narrabeen and Pittwater).
