Man dies after alleged Corso assault

A local man hospitalised after an alleged assault on Manly Corso late on Australia day has died.

The 37-year-old was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.

He was in an induced coma but his life support was turned off last night.

Manly Observer has chosen not to share his name and photo until permission is given.

The incident took place near the Coles on Manly Corso about 3am rolling into the 27th of January.

Detectives established Strike Force Ditchfield to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A 24-year-old was arrested on Sunday 28 January 2024 and charged has has since twice presented before Manly Local Court.

Police will allege that the injured man fell and hit his head during an incident involving the accused.

The accused, Jesse Allan, 24, of Fairlight, was granted conditional bail and will appear again at Downing Centre Local Court on March 26.

Police told Manly Observer that the charges against the Fairlight man currently remain the same but “investigations are on going.”
