Man charged over alleged stabbing at Mona Vale

A man will appear in court today charged after two men were hospitalised following an altercation on the Northern Beaches overnight.

About 7.15pm (Saturday 18 November 2023), emergency services were called to a park on Park St, Mona Vale, after reports a man had been injured.

On arrival, police and NSW Ambulance paramedics found two men – aged 26 and 36 – suffering lacerations to their hands. They were treated and taken to Northern Beaches Hospital for treatment.

(Editor’s note: Manly Observer has since spoken to one of the men who confirmed they both required surgery from stab wounds.

The younger of the pair required repair to some tendons and the other had the muscle reattached to his palm.

They are now now both out of surgery and returned to their homes on the Northern Beaches.)

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene, which has been forensically examined.

Initial inquiries indicate the men were injured during an altercation at a bus stop on Barrenjoey Road, where a knife was allegedly produced.

Responding police arrested four men – aged 18, 20, 21 and 22 – nearby.

The 21-year-old man was taken to Manly Police Station where he allegedly threatened officers. While the other three men were released pending further investigations.

He has since been charged with two counts of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possess means of disguising face with intent commit indictable offence, commit s114 offence, having previous conviction, and intimidate police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm.

The Punchbowl man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 19 November 2023).
