A man has been charged with allegedly intentionally hitting an e-bike rider with his vehicle in Newport.
About 4.15pm yesterday (Thursday 25 June 2026), emergency services were called to Irrubel Road, Newport, following reports of a crash between a Jeep and an e-bike.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the e-bike rider – a 16-year-old boy – at the scene before he was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The driver – a 59-year-old man – was uninjured.
Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command have been informed that the pair had been involved in a verbal altercation immediately before the crash.
It will be alleged that the rider hit the passenger side mirror of the vehicle, before the Jeep collided with the e-bike.
Following inquiries, the driver was taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with drive furiously in motor vehicle do/cause bodily harm and negligent driving.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 8 July 2026.
