Police have advised an investigation is underway following the death of a teenage girl on the Northern Beaches last night.
About 5.45pm on Sunday (23 August 2026), emergency services were called to a home in Elanora Heights, following reports of a concern for welfare.
On arrival, NSW Ambulance paramedics found a 16-year-old girl unresponsive. She was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition.
Police have since been told the 16-year-old died in hospital last night (Tuesday 25 August 2026).
Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident.
Manly Observer understands this is not being treated as a self harm matter, and the death may have been accidental and very personal in nature. We will only report further on the matter if the investigation determines the circumstances to be suspicious and charged laid. At this stage, it is simply a tragic death.
