Double stabbing in Balgowlah

Two people have been stabbed in Balgowlah this morning, 11 March.

Just before 6am today emergency services were called to West Street, Balgowlah, following reports of a stabbing.

Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command arrived to find a man and woman, both aged in their 30s, with stab injuries.

They were both treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Royal North Shore Hospital.

The woman was taken in a serious but stable condition with multiple stab wounds and the man, who had at least one stab wound, remains in a serious condition.

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the incident.

Later today Police confirmed this was an apparent domestic violence situation, with some sources suggesting mental health issues may have been factor. Police said as both were still being treated for their injuries in hospital no charges had been laid against either party. 

Inquiries are ongoing.
