Dirty politics enters local election

Manly Observer is aware of a false political flyer being distributed in Balgowlah Heights this weekend which wrongly proports to be sent from Good For Manly, Deputy Mayor Candy Bingham’s group in the Manly ward.

The flyer makes very disparaging and insulting remarks about another candidate in the ward.

Deputy Mayor Candy Bingham

Cr Bingham has been going door to door this weekend speaking with residents along one particular street where it was known to be distributed and explaining it is not from her and incorrectly and illegally claims to be authorized by her group.

“This level of gutter politics is just a disgrace and I can’t believe this is happening at local council elections when it should be about community not playing politics.

“This is the worst thing I’ve seen in a local government campaign,” she added.

The matter is being reported to police and we ask anyone who suspects they have received it to notify us in which street and suburb they received it. This will be collated and provided to police.
