Detectives thank public for help identifying man after Manly assault

Detectives have arrested a Dee Why man following a public appeal for information after a glassing and serious assault on the Corso Sunday night.

About 11pm Sunday (25 January 2026), emergency services responded to reports of an assault at a hotel on The Corso, Manly.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated two men – aged 44 and 49 – at the scene.

The younger man was taken to Northern Beaches Hospital whilst the other man was conveyed to Royal North Shore Hospital. Both are listed as being in a stable condition.

Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command were informed the two men became involved in a verbal argument with another man not known to them.

The man allegedly struck the 44-year-old man with a beer glass to the right side of his face and hit the older man with a bar stool several times in the head before leaving the scene in company with two women.

The man and the women were last seen walking north along the beachfront at North Steyne.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced.

As inquiries continued police released images of a man who they believe can assist detectives. He was identified by the public almost immediately. These images have now been blurred until the court appearance.

A 36 year old man was arrested about 6pm last night (26 January), and charged with affray.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Manly Local Court on Wednesday 18 February 2026.
