Elderly man swept out at Dee Why lagoon: rescue footage

Local thrill seekers making the most of the huge currents from the broken Dee Why lagoon successfully rescued a man who had fallen in from the edge.

The footage, captured by local drone operator Sky Monkey 5 showed local Fabio Sylvestre grab hold of the elderly man with others coming to join the rescue as the current grew stronger and more difficult to navigate.

This morning, Wednesday 23 February, two of the rescuers were interviewed in this endearing exchange on the Today Show.

You can view the rest of Sky Monkey’s aerial footage of the lagoon break on his instagram feed.
