Multiple emergency services responded to the discovery of a dead body washed up on Dee Why Beach this morning, 3 February about 6am.
Northern Beaches Police have confirmed the discovery and only remarked that it was a male and there was no evidence to suggest the death relates to sharks. It was also shared it is not known how he entered the water or what the man’s movements were prior, which are still subject to an ongoing investigation. They have dismissed reports that he may have been exercising on the beach at the time as “unlikely”.
With a strong southerly blowing overnight, one possibility was that it was the missing swimmer from the southern beaches on Sunday. However, that swimmer’s body was sadly located later that day.Â

When Manly Observer made follow up enquiries later in the week, we were told that police could only confirm that the deceased was male as they continue to search for a next of kin. Until they have been notified, no further information will be forthcoming.
