8:25am Wednesday: Residents report being again without water this morning across the lower Northern Beaches but Sydney Water says homes should all now have access, albeit with reduced flow as they work to repair burst pipes in North Balgowlah.
Sydney Water says it will provide an update shortly.
Last night most homes had their water restored, though most at reduced flow, after more than 12 hours without it.
DOES IT LOOK FUNNY AND CLOUDY?
We checked with Sydney Water who confirmed yes, water that looks like that the pictured is still safe to drink.
You can read more about that here.
If the water is brown, like it is here for one Manly resident, the water is dirty and the system needs to be flushed – report to Sydney water.
The cause stems from a burst water main on Woodbine Street in North Balgowlah which hit about 7.30am Tuesday, 3 December.
A statement to Manly Observer at the time said the water should return to most homes by midday.
Yesterday’s statement read: “Sydney Water crews are responding to a burst watermain at Woodbine Road, Balgowlah.
“Network Technicians are onsite. Repairs will commence once the main has been isolated.
“Approximately 5,790 properties across Balgowlah, North Balgowlah, Balgowlah Heights, Clontarf, Seaforth, Manly and Fairlight are experiencing lower than normal to no water pressure.
This will be reduced to three properties once the main is isolated and rezone implemented.
Normal water supply is expected to return by midday.
Sydney Water apologies for any inconvenience to our customers.”
We are awaiting an updated statement this morning.
