Northern Beaches mayor and deputy elected

Cr Sue Heins has been re-elected Mayor of the Northern Beaches unopposed in the first meeting of the new Council this evening.

Her term will last two years.

There were two nominations for Deputy Mayor, newly elected Greens Cr Ethan Hrnjak and returning Your Northern Beaches councillor Ruth Robins. 

Cr Robins won by majority and was elected.

The Deputy Mayor position is for 12 months.

“It’s just absolutely exciting to be starting another term with so many new faces,” Cr Heins said in her opening remarks.

In total 15 councillors were elected.  Seven councillors from the previous term (2021 – 2024) remain, including Mayor Heins with eight new members joining the Council.

The councillors will have their first full meeting on 15 October.

Labor and Liberal are noticably missing from the list (with NSW Liberal HQ not getting their paperwork done in time, read about it here.
