A Northern Beaches man has been refused bail after an alleged threat of assault involving a bow and arrow yesterday morning in Manly. About 10.30am, 20 November 2024, Police say a 39 year old man was confronted by an offender carrying a compound bow in the street at Manly.
The offender demanded a form of drug and when the victim said he didn’t have any, the offender allegedly threatened the man with a bow and arrow. The man then stopped making demands and left. Police were contacted and soon after arrested a 29 year old local Northern Beaches man.
The man was taken to Manly Police Station and charged with Assault with intent to rob armed with offensive weapon and one count of armed with intent to commit indictable offence. He was refused bail and will appear at Downing Centre Local Court on 14 January 2025.
Northern Beaches Police say a permit is not required to obtain a compound bow and there is no specific offence for carrying one in public.

Forensic evidence leads to bike arrest
Police have used forensic evidence to arrest a man accused of breaking into a Dee Why unit block and stealing an ebike.
Yesterday, 20 November 2024, police charged a 36 year old man with Break, enter and steal and he was refused bail to appear at Manly Local Court on 18 December 2024.
Police will allege that in the early hours of 13 November 2024 the man gained entry to a garage area of a Dee Why unit block where he stole an ebike that belonged to a resident.
The owner reported the theft to police who attended and tasked Crime Scene Officers with conducting a forensic examination of the scene. The man’s fingerprints were identified at the scene. As a general rule, ebikes do not have an ignition system and can be ridden away with ease. Police suggest removing the battery would make ebikes less appealing to thieves.
Bush batting charge, East Esplanade
About 7.00pm on 14 November 2024 police responded to reports of a witness who saw a man performing an obscene act in bushes at East Esplanade. The man allegedly had his pants down and penis exposed.
Police responded within minutes and located the man who still had his genitals exposed. The offender was partially concealed by bushes and there were members of the public, including children walking along the footpath nearby. Police obtained a statement from a witness and questioned the offender. The 56 year old offender was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice for one count of wilful and obscene exposure in public place and one count of Behave in offensive manner in public place. He will appear at Manly Local Court on 8 January 2025.
Kilo of meth found in Frenchs Forest
Police were were contacted about a suspicious package that was in bushes on John Oxley Drive, Frenchs Forest last Friday. The crystalline substance was vacuum sealed and weighed 1kg. A presumptive drug test confirmed the package contained methamphetamine. The estimated wholesale price of 1kg of methamphetamine is between $150,000 and $300,000.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about the drug package to contact Dee Why Police or Crime Stoppers.
Police Pursuit from Palm Beach
About 2.30am on 13 November 2024 residents of Florida Rd, Palm Beach heard someone trying to open the front door to their home. Luckily the door was locked. A resident woke and yelled causing three offenders in hoodies to run off. Police were called and responded and saw an Audi sedan travelling at high speed on the way to the scene. A police pursuit was commenced at Warriewood and terminated soon after the Audi reached dangerously high speeds. Crime Scene officers attended the Palm Beach home and conducted a forensic examination. Entry was not gained and no property was stolen.
The investigations now been taken over by Strike Force Sweetenham, North West Metropolitan Region operation targeting aggravated break and enter incidents.
